#HerrMeier – The Fountain Philosopher Why one day is not enough – and two are just beginning

Hello. I'm Mr. Meier – the bronze fountain philosopher at Landhaus Gritschacher. I've been standing here for years. I don't move, but I observe a lot. And the longer I stand there, the more certain I am:

A one-day stay is not enough – even if it has 24 hours.

Arriving is not the same as being there.

On the first day, people arrive. With bikes, with backpacks, with dogs (not theirs, but the guest's), with stress. They take a deep breath. Some sit down. Others immediately check the Wi-Fi. But no one notices: The most important thing doesn't happen right away.

Because those who arrive are usually still on the move. With their heads. With their souls. With what would truly be a vacation.

For us, slow food isn't a trend. It's an attitude.

We cook what grows. We eat what makes sense. And season it with time, conversation, and a wink. Not with additives.

You can taste it, if you're honest. Just like you can feel it when a place touches you. But if you move on immediately, you might have eaten your fill—but not taken anything with you. And that would be a shame.

Because there’s more out there waiting for you:

  • Lake Millstatt , which looks like a painting in the morning – but doesn't scream, but whispers: "Stay a little longer."

  • The Goldeck , which stands above everything like a sentence that you have to read twice – to really understand it.

  • And the second coffee on the terrace – which tastes completely different from the first. Because there's suddenly peace there.

I'll tell you how it is:

One day is enough for an overnight stay. But not for an experience. Not for a feeling. And certainly not for a goulash and the lake.

My advice as a #fountainphilosopher:

Stay. Two nights. Three. Or until you feel like, "Now I'm really here." And if you do it right, you'll leave at some point—but with a bit of peace and quiet in your luggage .

With a bronzed smile, yours, Mr. Meier . Splashing. Thinking. And knowing: Those who stay will have more of it.
